Entangling Alliances

In Clint Lacy’ recent Dixie Daily News article (see: "Clint Lacy Warns Southerners about the CCC" ) he agrees with Morris Dees and the Southern Poverty Law Center that the Council of Conservative Citizens is a racist organization. After reminding readers that American immigration laws are a scandal (no disagreement here), Lacy goes on to say:

"This brings us back to the Council of Conservative Citizens. There seems to be an effort with some League of the South members to ally with them. This would not only be the worst mistake the League has ever made, it will be the death of the League of the South. Morris Dees accusation would have validity if we ally ourselves with the C of CC." (Lacy’s comment about, "Morris Dees accusation..." refers to the Southern Poverty Law Center’s naming of both the CCC and the League of the South as "hate groups.") Lacy then states, "The C of CC certainly appears to be a racist organization."

After having finally figured-out that the Council of Conservative Citizens is exactly what we at Save the SCV have said all along: a bunch of racists (who also want to control the SCV), Lacy then reverts to a Ron Wilson/Kirk Lyons razzle-dazzle with facts:

"What we are facing is devastating to the Southern Heritage Movement. Morris Dees and the Save the SCV organization has infiltrated the Sons of Confederate Veterans from the left, causing much havoc."

Save the SCV did not infiltrate the Sons of Confederate Veterans from the left or from anywhere else. Many of our supporters have been in the SCV for decades; all were "in good standing" until CIC Wilson suspended us for daring to say that we intended to vote him out of office and fire Kirk Lyons. Save the SCV only started "causing much havoc" when CIC Wilson, Kirk Lyons and LoS president Michael Hill decided to turn the SCV into a neo-secessionist organization; Lacy calls THAT "infiltration"? But now Lacy doesn’t like the CCC doing the same thing to the League that the League is doing to the SCV:

"The League of the South is now facing such an infiltration from the Council of Conservative Citizens from the extreme right. If this happens two great Southern Organizations will be rendered all but useless. Effectively ending the Southern Movement."

Lacy says that the CCC’s infiltration of League of the South with racists is "devastating," but he obviously thinks that the League’s infiltration of the SCV with neo-secessionists is just fine.

When members of League of the South became influential in the SCV and altered our non-affiliation policy to allow for "infiltration" by the LoS, they opened a Pandora’s Box within the SCV. Now the League of the South and the Council Of Conservative Citizens are beginning to feud over who will control the SCV. Currently the League of the South is winning that contest. In fact, LoS member and SCV Camp Commander Jeff Hodges of the Eli P. Landers Camp # 1724, recently boasted to Save the SCV , "And yes, League of the South members are joining the SCV in droves and there’s not a damn thing you can do about it."

Mr. Lacy’s insinuation that Save the SCV is an accomplice of Morris Dees simply because we agree that LoS and CCC types are now controlling the SCV through Ron Wilson is thought provoking. We at Save the SCV would respectfully point-out to Mr. Lacy that, now, he too is a "willing accomplice," "in bed with," and/or "being paid by Morris Dees," since he agrees with the SPLC that the CCC is a racist organization.
