Compatriots:

Save the SCV agrees with those who feel that protesting the Lincoln statue in Richmond, Virginia, is a mistake. The protest this weekend will accomplish nothing positive for the SCV or for Confederate heritage, but will instead do further damage to our public image.

Those who go to Richmond will find themselves in the company of splinter-groups representing contemporary American social and political issues -- some legitimate, many just plain radical. The loudest and most extreme members of the most radical groups will end-up getting the publicity because that's what the media believes we are all about and that's the message they want the nation to see. Our Confederate flags will be in the middle of it all. The SCV plays into the hands of our enemies when we associate with these groups and when we engage in modern political activity that is not directly related to the POSITIVE guardianship of Confederate heritage.

Save the SCV recommends that all patriotic Americans stay away from the Lincoln statue protest. We do not need to be linked with anti-government and neo-secessionists types, particularly in this time of war. Show your support for the positive things that the SCV stands for by putting a U.S.A flag AND a C.S.A. flag in you yard or on your vehicle. There are a lot of Southern boys serving in Gulf War II. We Sons of Confederate Veterans are patriotic Americans who have the honor of being the descendants of Confederate soldiers. Let's start acting like it.
