CIC R.G. Wilson 203 Siloam Road Easley, SC 29642 An Open letter to CIC Wilson: Thank you for coming to Roxboro and informing us that you suspended the legally elected brigade commanders, camp commanders and suspended the camp charters of seven camps in the NC Division because of our support of Save the SCV. Thank you for telling us that you did so because you had the authority to do so. Thank you also for letting us know that you suspended entire camps to get at certain individuals. Dedicated SCV members wanted to know why you took such a drastic course of action. You certainly explained your position. You made it clear that there is no room in the SCV for differences of opinion. There will be no debate. Your dictatorial actions can only be seen as an attempt to eliminate the loyal opposition. Good leadership would have attempted to find a solution and resolve these differences. Fix the problem. Instead you have attempted to eliminate your critics. Fix the blame. The problem will not go away. These men are dedicated, long-term members of the SCV who have made significant contributions to the organization over the years. Because they disagree with your leadership and the current direction of the SCV, you have suspended them. Pursuant to Article 14, Section 7 of the Constitution of the Sons of Confederate Veterans which reads in part as follows "The Commander-in-Chief is charged with the duty of working with the Camp or member to remove the factors that necessitated the suspension", what are you doing to perform this duty? Waiting to hear from you . . . . |
